PORTAL

What will change?

  • Refund option removed from OCT
  • PAN increase in Search and Virtual Terminal

  • Refund option removed from OCT

Original Credit Transactions (OCT) are standalone transactions which allow you to return money to a customer’s account. Unlike a refund, an OCT is not tied to a previous transaction.

Currently in the Portal there is a Refund option displayed for an OCT. We know it was confusing as an OCT cannot be refunded in the first place, so we will remove the refund option for OCT for a smoother and more consistent experience.

  • Masked PAN increased to 19 digits

Traditionally masked PANs are between 12 and 19 digits and we have worked on our Search functionality and Virtual Terminal (VT) to reflect the correct length of the PAN. The goal was to better align to industry standards and provide consistency throughout Portal features.

When using the Search functionality, you will need to enter a PAN comprised between 12 and 19 digits otherwise the Search button will remain greyed out until a valid PAN number is entered.

This will also be reflected in the VT where the PAN will have to be between 12 and 19 digits for a VT transaction to take place.

PLATFORM

What will change?

  • Handling of Invalid Requests

  • Affirm reconciliation

  • Handling of Invalid Requests

Our focus on the Platform side has been improving the way that we handle Invalid Requests. An example of Invalid Request would be to try to cancel the authorisation (auth_cancel) on a Captured transaction. In this case it is not possible to cancel the auth on a Captured transaction and instead a cancel_capture must be sent. Invalid requests will be made much clearer to the merchants especially which type of requests was invalid and which one needs to be sent.

  • Affirm reconciliation

To support the Affirm reconciliation process, we will sending Affirm Reconciliation IDs in all request messages. This will allow APEXX to receive that reference_id in the settlement files back from Affirm for Authorisation, Capture, and Refund transactions, thus facilitating reconciliation between Affirm and the merchant via APEXX.
